Altenew A Year In Review Blog Hop + Giveaway

Lovely May from Altenew has created for all blog hop participants this banner showing best 4 of each crafter. I chose 4 cards created using different coloring mediums.

For this blog hop I chose 9 projects I made using Altenew products throughout the year of 2017. I'll add the link to the original post (please click the photo) along with a short description about each card. 

So let's get started! 

As you may know I love to color big floral images using alcohol inks. To create this cards I gold heat embossed the Sketchy Floral set on alcohol ink cardstock and colored it with Ranger alcohol inks.

This card was my entry at July Inspiration Challenge. I colored the camellia from Build-a-Flower: Camellia set using Artist Markers set A. I have a coloring video on the original post.

This card was made for the Altenew May Release Blog Hop. I watercolored Enchanted Iris using Zig brush markers. I love this stamp set and was so happy with the result :)!

This card was one of my projects I made using new Artist markers. I love the coral and warm gray combination on Golden Garden images. I was so happy with the result because the watercolor wash of the background in gold and payne's gray turned out just as I wanted :).

This card was my entry at January Inspiration Challenge and one of the winners. I created the background first and colored the gold heat embossed Best Mom image with acrylic paint.

This card is featuring Build-A-Flower: Camellia set again.  The first flower of the Build-A-Flower series. I watercolored the camellia in coral and gray. One of my favorite color combinations :).

This card was my entry at August Inspiration Challenge. Super chic color combination! I colored the butterflies from Bejeweled set with aqua and green alcohol inks and blended Hazelnut on the background.

The floral arrangement on this card was created using Remember This stamp set. I colored the images with Artist Markers set A. It was my first trial of the Artist Markers set A and I was so pleased with the result.

I've created this card to celebrate Altenew's 3rd Anniversary in April by using several floral stamp sets: Best Mom, Remember This, Spring Daisy, Garden Treasure and Beautiful Day. I love how this card turned out and the sentiment from Moments in Time set.  

A good life is a collection of happy moments!

Magnolia Fussy Cut - EunJi's digital stamp

Hello and happy Monday! Hope your week is off to a good start! 

Today I want to show you two cards I made using Magnolia Fussy Cut , one of EunJi's beautiful floral digital stamps. 

Magnolia Fussy Cut

I printed the whole image on a mixed media paper sheet in gray and watercolored them. 

For the first card I colored the biggest image using pearl watercolor. It's shimmering, but the picture doesn't show it well. The sentiment is from Happy Wishes by Penny Black. I cut the panel using Double Stitched Rectangle die by The Ton and cut along the outline of the image on the left side. I pop the panel up using foam adhesive on the dark brown cardbase.

I used the other magnolia images to create my second card.

The front panel is with the two magnolia flowers on the top of the stamp. I fussy cut the third flower and a bud (which are on the left side of the stamp) and then added them onto the main panel after I drew the stem for the third flower by hand. I glued a strip of green shimmer paper on the bottom of the card. To finish off I added Crystal Stickles on the center of the flowers.

I'm still learning how to use the digital stamps. But I can say I love that the size of the image is adjustable when I have digital stamps.

The Flower Challenge #15 - Anything but a Card Reminder

Hello and happy Friday!

It's time for a reminder post for The Flower Challenge #15: Anything but a Card.
It seems you're all so busy this holiday season:) ! Or maybe the theme is the reason for that we have only a few entries in our gallery. A tag would be a good one to enter our challenge, if you don't come up with any other idea :).

I've created a table name place card (oh, it's a card :), I didn't think about the name! haha) using partial die cutting technique.

To start off I cut a watercolor paper panel in 6.5" by 4.75". I then scored two lines at 0.75" away from both ends. I marked the middle line on the panel using a pencil and gold heat embossed the poinsettia cluster image from Good Tidings Cluster by The Ton on the middle line of the panel and colored it with Spectrum Noir Sparkle markers. I then die cut the image only the upper part of the middle line of the panel. To add more interest I stamped the outline of Holly Branch (The Ton) in Soft Garden on the panel. I gold heat embossed the name using Scripty Alpha Upper and Lower stamp set. I love this beautiful font! 

I folded the panel along the score lines and taped the ends together to make the place card stand. For some more sparkle I added thin strip of gold glitter tape on both sides. The 3D berries are made using gold and white Pico Embellisher.  I finished off the place card by adding a rhinestone on the center of the poinsettia.

Alcohol ink Coloring of Sketchy Floral

So here I am again with three cards I made inspired by the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #250. I chose my colors from color palettes of Altenew A Year in Review Inspiration Challenge : The pink, green one is for the color palette of the May Inspiration Challenge and the yellow, orange and brown combo is from November Inspiration Challenge 

Big and bold outline images are perfect for alcohol ink coloring. Sketchy Floral set by Altenew is one of them. Jessica from All the Sparkle showcased her alcohol ink card featuring this set last week. And it was so gorgeous. After I watched her video I wanted to pull out my alcohol inks again. She also shared a great tool for this technique in her video tutorial : a mini swab (micro brush). I ordered them right away and they are just perfect! Thank you for the tip, Jessica!!! 

Now to my cards... 

I gold heat embossed the Sketchy Floral on Ranger Alcohol ink cardstock and colored them using alcohol inks by dripping the ink and tilting the paper. I used mini swabs to move the ink or to color tiny parts of the image.

For this one I used Raspberry, Flamingo, Shell pink, Botanical and Limeade. To create the background I applied rubbing alcohol first and dripped the Limeade onto the alcohol to dilute and blend the color. The sentiment is from the Sketchy Floral set as well. I white heat embossed it on a strip of cardstock I colored in dark green using Copic markers. I mounted the alcohol ink panel on the cardbase and added the sentiment strip embellished with glitter tape from New Day card kit. I finished off the card by adding some gold Pico embellisher on the center of the flowers.

For next two cards I used Watermelon, Sunset Orange, Sunshine Yellow, Butterscotch and Hazelnut. I splattered orange and yellow inks and added gold splatters using Gold Mixative.

To assemble this card I mounted the alcohol ink panel on a kraft cardbase on two sides of which I adhered gold glitter tape from New Day card kit. The sentiment was gold heat embossed on a strip of dark brown cardstock and added onto the card with thin border of gold glitter.

This card is showing the sketch of CAS(E) this Sketch #250. For this card I used a dark red cardbase. The making process is like the previous card.

I had a blast coloring using alcohol inks again. And I love the results :)! Hope you do too!

Inspired by CAS(E) this Sketch #250

Hello  :)! 

I hope you don't mind I'm here again... After I saw the beautiful sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #250 last week. I had some design ideas and made several cards. But I had no time to take pictures of them. Yesterday I spent all day taking pictures and editing them. So here they are (not all of them, I have a few more for another post).

I used Holiday Love Poinsettia from The Ton to stamp them on two diagonal corners of A2 sized mixed media panel in Versafine onyx black ink for watercoloring. I tried to mimic YoonSun's loose watercoloring :). I love her watercoloring style but it's so hard for me to achieve that look. A long way to go...

For the first card I colored the image in coral and red and added some light pink on the background. On the second and third card I colored the images in purple and cobalt turquoise and colored the background in cobalt turquoise. 

Here I cut the panel slightly smaller than A2 using a Double Stitched rectangle die. The large Brushed Merry sentiment from The Ton was gold heat embossed on it and the panel was glued flat on a dark red cardbase. I added the small 'Christmas' sentiment from Holiday Ornaments set, white heat embossed on a strip of dark red cardstock. To finish off I scattered some sequins from Santa's Sneezes Couture Mix from The Ton.

To make this card I cut the colored panel using Double Stitched rectangle die in A2 size and mounted it flat on a light blue cardbase. The Holiday Word die was used to cut the sentiment. I cut it once from a cardstock on which I adhered Glossy fine silver adhesive glitter paper (The Ton), and three more times from a white cardstock to stack them together. Finishing touch was some turquoise and purple sequins from Royal Garden Party, Violet Sprinkle and Blue Ice Couture Mix (The Ton).

On the next card I used a negative die cut panel to cover the background and splatters as I thought the former cards are not CAS enough to enter into CAS(E) this Sketch #250  :).

I cut the Holiday Love Poinsettia outline from a white woodgrain panel using coordinating die and foam mounted it onto the card. The sentiment is from Holiday Ballet stamp set by The Ton. I white heat embossed it on a strip of purple cardstock and foam mounted it.

Here is one more close up pic to show you the beautiful woodgrain texture!

I added yellow Pico embellisher onto the center of all poinsettias.

I'll enter the last one into CAS(E) this Sketch #250.

Tulip, Daffodil and Rose - EunJi's digital stamps

Hello again!

I'm popping in to share three floral cards I made last week with you. These floral images are digital stamps designed by EunJi which she has on her Etsy Shop DotBStamp. I colored them during the latest 30 day coloring challenge in September. And last week I finally could turn them into cards :).

The first card is showing the Botanical Parrot Tulip stamp. Parrot tulips are famous for their beautiful folds on petals. I tried to focus on the folds while coloring my red tulip :). I watercolored the tulip and the background.

The sentiment is from Happy Wishes set by Penny Black. I cut a rectangle frame from the panel using Double Stitched Rectangle dies from The Ton. The main panel was glued flat on the white cardbase and the frame was foam mounted. To finish off I added some clear sequins. 

Next card is featuring botanical-daffodil set. 

I colored this with Copic markers and added a little bit more details using Polychromos colored pencils. To show the yellow cardbase I narrowed the panel down. I cut the chevron pattern with a MFT border die and foam mounted it on the cardbase. The sentiment from Clearly Besotted was white heat embossed on a strip of white cardstock which I colored in green with Copic markers. 

The rose on the last card is from Bouquet Rose Fussy Cut set. 

I colored this cute bouquet with Koi watercolor and cut the panel with a Double Stitched Square Die from The Ton. I cut a corner of the panel, adhered a thin strip of gold glitter paper and mounted the panel on a square cardbase on which I stamped Minor Stripes (The Ton) in Soft Garden. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches. I gold heat embossed it on a circle panel on which I blended Soft Garden dye ink.
