Seize the Birthday - Birds

Hello everyone !

Today I have a special post to share with you. I'm guest designing at The Foiled Fox again!
I've recently had a chance to play with this beautiful image from Penny Black for my GD post at The Foiled Fox. This stamp is called Melody Makers. The first card I made was an alcohol ink colored one. For today I watercolored the image using Color burst powders.

And this card is my DT card for the new challenge at Seize the Birthday, because the new Toppings option for the next fortnight happens to be...

Let's take a look!

To start off I stamped Melody Makers in Versafine black ink on Canson XL watercolor paper and colored it with Color Burst.
I used Peony for the flowers, Lime Green and Sap Green for the leaves and Lemon Yellow, Cerulean Blue, Orange and Tangerine for the birds. The background was colored in Cerulean blue and a little bit of Peony. I applied Micro Glaze on the panel which made it more vibrant.
The panel was cut with a Distressed Edges die from Spellbinders. I glued the frame flat on the cardbase and foam mounted the main panel onto the place.
The sentiment is from Grateful Heart by Penny Black. I gold heat embossed it on a parchment vellum, cut it using a circle die and Distressed Edges die I used for the colored panel and glued it onto the card. I drew the eyes using black and white glaze pens and added yellow dots using Pico Embellisher as the stamen of the flowers.

That's it from my side!

Twofer #3 - Blossoms

Hello again everyone!

I have a couple of daisy cards to share with you. I made these to enter into Twofer Card Challenge #3: Blossoms.
I've seen so many gorgeous entries for Twofer Card Challenge on the blogs I visited in last months. I missed previous challenges but this time with the theme "Blossoms" I didn't want to miss it again!

I used Daisy Close Up (Full View) Cling background stamp from The Ton to create my cards! This is a new addition to the Close Up series by The Ton!

This is my first card. It is a 5" square card.

I started off by gold heat embossing Daisy Close Up on CansonXL watercolor paper (5"x5").  I kept this card in blue shades by watercoloring the petals using Prussian Blue and Cerulean Blue from Color Burst powders. The center of the flowers was colored in yellow and gold.

After done with coloring I cut the panel using a Double Stitched Square die. I glued the frame flat on the cardbase. I added a mat of white cardstock on four sides of which I adhered Adhesive Gold Foil paper, to the main panel and foam mounted it onto the card.
The die cut "hi" was cut using Bold General Greeting Word die (The Ton). I stacked three layers of white cardstock and one die cut from Adhesive Gold Foil paper to give the sentiment some dimension. To finish off I added some Medallion Gold Sequins (The Ton).

Here one close-up picture showing the shine of golden elements!

On the second card I colored the daisy in rainbow colors. (I had to cut the yellow and green part :).)

I white heat embossed Daisy Close Up this time and watercolored it. I then fussy cut the flower and foam mounted it on a white cardbase. I colored a piece of watercolor paper in pink, purple and blue and cut the XOXO from it using XOXO die also from The Ton.

The "I love you" sentiment was made from two stamp sets; Brushed You and Brushed Hugs (The Ton). I combined two small sentiments from them. I white heat embossed the sentiment on a strip of dark navy cardstock, cut it in a banner and foam mounted it on the XOXO.
I finished off the card by adding some clear Dew Drops from The Ton.

I hope you enjoyed looking my cards!

I'll enter the rainbow card into The Paper Players 385 CAS Rainbow! Thank you for letting me know, Sandy :)!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Guest Designing at The Foiled Fox - Alcohol ink coloring Video

Hello everyone!!!

I'm guest designing today on The Foiled Fox blog! The sweet ladies from The Foiled Fox invited me again and  I had the pleasure to play with the new Penny Black stamps they generously sent to me!

The gorgeous image I used for today's card is called Melody Makers. The large blossom and sweet birds were calling for alcohol inks when I saw them for the first time :)!

To start off I heat embossed Melody Makers on a Alcohol ink cardstock from Ranger in gold. I then colored the image using Ranger Alcohol inks along with a Y06 Copic Refill.

I applied the ink directly from the bottle onto the image and tilted the panel to move the ink. For small area I used Micro brush. I once watched Jessica Frost-Ballas using it in one of her videos and started using it too. It is the perfect tool for this purpose!!!
The colors I used are:
  • Flowers: Shell Pink, Snow Cap
  • Leaves: Limeade
  • Birds: Y06, Sunshine Yellow, Valencia, Red Pepper/ Pool, Y06
  • Branch: Hazelnut
  • Background: Aqua, Limeade
I colored the beaks and legs using brown fine tip Sharpie pen and the eyes using black and white glaze pens.

The sentiment is from Grateful Heart by Penny Black. I stamped it in StazOn black ink on the panel.
I added some dots with gold and yellow Pico embellisher as stamen of the flowers.
To finish off I scattered some clear iridescent sequins.

Next picture shows the gold embossing better!

I've made a coloring process video. You can see the name of the colors used on the top left corner.
You can watch it in HD on my YouTube channel.

Thank you so much for looking! Hope you enjoyed my card and the video!
Huge Thanks to The Foiled Fox for having me as a guest today!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Seize the Birthday - Teal and White

Hello everyone!

I'm here again to share my DT cards for the new challenge at Seize the Birthday
The Toppings option this time around is ...

Of course I was brainstorming for a teal floral card but after I watched Jennifer Mcguire's video tutorial recently I decided to go with the glazed DOX background technique. I watched a video from Tim Holtz in which he demonstrated this technique at CHA 2018 in January and wanted to give it a try. I've been forgotten about that and Jennifer's post reminded me of this technique: very easy to execute with a gorgeous result!

To start off I created the teal panel by blending various blue and green DOX on Ranger Alcohol Ink cardstock. I sprayed plenty of pearlized water on it and dried with a heat gun. I repeated this process until I liked the result. After the panel was dry I rubbed the surface with a mini blending tool on which I applied Tim Holtz Micro Glaze. I don't remember why, but I bought the Micro Glaze as I started cardmaking. Maybe I watched a video tutorial and I thought I absolutely needed that :) !

I then cut the panel with SSS Surely Stitched Heart die.

I used the heart and stripes for my first card.

For ink smooshing on the background I used Peacock Feather DI and Blue Topaz sparkle pen (Spectrum Noir). I cut Surely Stitched Heart two more times from a white cardstock and stacked them together with the teal die cut on top. The sentiment from Penny Black was stamped in Versafine black ink and clear heat embossed on the background panel. I glued it on the cardbase, mounted Surely Stitched Heart and added the small heart also cut from the teal panel. To finish off I added Smoked Emerald sparkling clear sequins and Glass Slippers sequins by The Ton.

The negative die cut panel was used for the next card.

Here I inlaid white die cut into the place, trimmed the panel slightly down using Double Stitched Rectangle die and mounted it on the white cardbase. I chose a thin sentiment from Technique Tuesday to place it on the narrow stripe. I stamped it on a thin white strip in Ocean Teal (The Ton) and glued it onto the card. Three Glass Slippers sequins were my finishing touch.

What a pity that I didn't take pictures of the panel before and after applying Micro Glaze! It's like magic! Hope you give this a try!

Thank you so much for looking my cards today!

The Flower Challenge #18 - Anything Goes - Reminder

Hello and happy Thursday :)! Hope you are having a great week so far!

Today I have a DT card for The Flower Challenge to share with you.
We are having a Anything Goes challenge this month! So you can enter any newly created floral card in our gallery! The winner will get two digital stamps from EunJi's Etsy Shop: DotBStamp

Our design team members were lucky to have the chance to play with the stamps. I've shared a card made using Anemone Bouquet set last time. For my reminder card I used Magnolia set

I arranged the single flowers on Keynote as I wanted and printed it out on Canson Mixed media paper for watercoloring.
This is work-in-process pictures. They were made at night time, so not in the best light.

First I colored the background in purple and blue using Gansai Tambi watercolor. Next I added shades on the flowers using silver watercolor. I then watercolored the flowers and leaves very lightly and added details using Polychromos colored pencils.

The sentiment is from PB Heartfelt. It's hard to see here. It says ' Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us every day. ' How beautiful... I gold heat embossed it directly on the colored panel. I foam mounted the panel on the white cardbase and added some sequins to finish off the card.

EunJi has designed another beauty! I love these magnolias!

Please stop by The Flower Challenge blog for more inspiration and play along!!!
Looking forward to seeing your creations in the gallery!

Thank you so much for your visit and lovely comments!

Anemone Bouquet - EunJi's digital stamp

Hello and happy Friday everyone!

Today's card is featuring one of EunJi's new digital stamps, Anemone Bouquet.  I already made a card using single flowers in this set for The Flower Challenge. This time I used the cluster from the set.

Anemone Bouquet

I printed the cluster image on Canson mixed media paper and watercolored it. I started by painting the panel in green and pink, roughly on the background and on the image as well. I then watercolored the image. For the flowers I mainly used Crimson lake, a bold pinkish red color. After done with coloring I traced the outlines using black Micron pen and added white accents using a white gel pen.
I cut the panel slightly down using Double Stitched Rectangle die (The Ton) and foam mounted it on a dark red cardbase. The sentiment from Modern Labels (The Ton) was white heat embossed on a strip of black cardstock. I added a gold foil paper under the black strip and foam mounted it onto the card. To finish off I added some Medallion gold sequins from The Ton.

To print out the digital stamps on the right paper could be challenging. But you can adjust the size and the arrangement of the images as you want! I think it's a big advantage!

Hope you stop by EunJi's blog and her Etsy shop for more inspirations!

I want to enter this card into Addicted to Stamps and More #282: Make Your Mark.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Wishing you all a restful weekend!

The Flower Challenge #18 - Anything Goes

Hello and happy Sunday!

Today I want to share a card with you which I made for the March challenge at The Flower Challenge! This month we have an Anything Goes challenge AND a SPONSOR!!!

EunJi has generously provided our DT with two new digital stamps which are the prize for a winner this month!!! EunJi is an amazing colorist and stamp designer! You can see her gorgeous artworks on her blog and her digital stamps on her Etsy Shop: DotBStamp.

For today's card I used Anemone Bouquet set.

I used the single flowers and leaves to arrange my own floral cluster.
The background was made using 2 Piece Foliage Coverplate die by The Ton.

I printed the single flowers and leaves in several sizes on Canson mixed media paper, watercolored them and fussy cut them out. The blending on the background was created using Peacock Feather, Crushed Olive, Evergreen Bough and Cracked Pistachio DIs on a white cardbase. I splattered clean water and water and Perfect pearl mix on it. After the background was dry I glued white die cut piece of 2 Piece Foliage Coverplate die. It cuts the panel in a inner piece and a outer piece. I first glued the inner piece and then the rectangle frame, I cut from the outer piece, on the cardbase. The sentiment is from Painted Peonies (The Ton). I stamped it in Black pigment ink and clear heat embossed it.

I arranged the fussy cut flowers and leaves as I wanted and mounted them onto the card with the help of Press'n Seal. On some area I used foam adhesive for more dimension. To finish off the card I added a few Glass Slippers sequins (The Ton).

Hope you enjoyed today's card! Stop by The Flower Challenge blog to see what my amazing team mates created with EunJi's digital stamps!

Seize the Birthday - No Topping

Hello again!

I'm popping in to share a birthday card with you! It's my DT card for the latest Seize the Birthday challenge. This time around we have no Toppings option! So any newly created birthday card is welcome in our gallery as always :)!

I used Peony Notes bundle by The Ton to create my card.  There is a stamp for the background in the bundle but this time I used the layers for the peonies and leaves only.

I stamped the flowers in Rose Quartz, Soft Garnet and Red Sangria and the leaves in Smoky Quartz and Light Onyx (all inks are from The Ton). I then cut the floral cluster using coordinating die. I blended Rose Quartz and Soft Garnet on the white cardbase and silver heat embossed the big sentiment. The small sentiment was stamped in Smoky Quartz. I finished off the card by foam mounting the floral panel onto the card.

It was a quick card. The Peony Notes bundle is easy to layer. And the complete floral cluster is only 5 stamping actions away!

Please stop by Seize the Birthday blog! There are some gorgeous inspirations from my amazing team mates and our new Surprise Party Guest Kimberly Lackenbach from Kim's Cards & Crafts!

Thank you so much for looking!
Have a wonderful day!

The Ton March Challenge - SPRING

Hello there!!!

It's March! Hard to believe we have already one sixth of this year behind us! Hope your March is off to a great start!

New Month, New Challenge at The Ton Challenge blog! The cue word for this month is

There are so many flowers which pop in my mind when I think about Spring. And Tulip is on top of my list. For today's card I used the tulips from Sweet Folk Hummingbird and Geometric Circles Coverplate die for the background.

I stamped the tulip in Antique Linen DI on Bristol smooth paper for no line coloring. I watercolored it and cut it using coordinating die. To create the background I did some loose watercolor wash on a watercolor paper panel in blue, red and green using DI. I used a die cut piece cut with Geometric Circles Coverplate die as a stencil and sponged Lemon Drop, Soft Garden and Cali Blue on the stencil over the watercolor wash. I then added splatters using the same DIs and Copic Opaque white.

I cut the background panel using the largest Double Stitched Rectangle die and glued it on a white cardbase. The tulip was foam mounted on it. The sentiment is from Basic Banners set. I heat embossed a banner in Rose Gold, stamped the sentiment in Noir and cut the banner using the coordinating die. To finish off I added some Glass Slippers sequins.

Hope I could inspire you with my Spring card today :)!

Please stop by The Ton Challenge blog for more inspiration from my team mates and our guest designer. And don't forget to play along :)!!! There is a $50 gift certificate to win !

Have a great day!
