The Ton March Challenge - SPRING

Hello there!!!

It's March! Hard to believe we have already one sixth of this year behind us! Hope your March is off to a great start!

New Month, New Challenge at The Ton Challenge blog! The cue word for this month is

SPRING

There are so many flowers which pop in my mind when I think about Spring. And Tulip is on top of my list. For today's card I used the tulips from Sweet Folk Hummingbird and Geometric Circles Coverplate die for the background.

I stamped the tulip in Antique Linen DI on Bristol smooth paper for no line coloring. I watercolored it and cut it using coordinating die. To create the background I did some loose watercolor wash on a watercolor paper panel in blue, red and green using DI. I used a die cut piece cut with Geometric Circles Coverplate die as a stencil and sponged Lemon Drop, Soft Garden and Cali Blue on the stencil over the watercolor wash. I then added splatters using the same DIs and Copic Opaque white.

I cut the background panel using the largest Double Stitched Rectangle die and glued it on a white cardbase. The tulip was foam mounted on it. The sentiment is from Basic Banners set. I heat embossed a banner in Rose Gold, stamped the sentiment in Noir and cut the banner using the coordinating die. To finish off I added some Glass Slippers sequins.

Hope I could inspire you with my Spring card today :)!

The Ton February Challenge - HEART

Hello everyone!
We've arrived in the second month of 2018! How fast the time flies...

The Ton Challenge is having a cue word challenge in February. And the cue word is HEART

I've made a trifold Valentine's day card using Sweet Folk Hummingbird set from our 3rd Anniversary Release.

I cut the heart from a white cardbase with my cutting machine. The tulips from Sweet Folk Hummingbird were gold heat embossed on some watercolor paper and colored with Color Burst. I aligned the tulips so that the big flower is peeking out from the heart window.

I splattered soft blue watercolor and opaque white paint on the colored panel and let it dry. The colored panel was then glued on another cardbase which I adhered to the first one with the heart window to make a trifold card. I added thin strip of Glossy Fine Silver adhesive paper onto the colored panel like a frame.

I gold heat embossed the hummingbird from Sweet Folk Hummingbird on a scrap of watercolor paper, watercolored it in mint, purple and gray and coated it with a clear glitter pen. I cut the hummingbird with the coordinating die and foam mounted it next to the heart window.

The sentiment is from XOXO mini set. I stamped it in Plum Wine in a curved line running from the heart towards the bottom of the card. I finished off the card by adding some sequins from Smoked Amethyst Sparkling clear sequins, Mint Sugar and Misti Mint Couture Mix on the colored panel to keep the front panel with the heart window as simple as possible!

The Ton January Challenge - CHEERS

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Wishing you all a year even better than the best!!!

My first post in 2018 is for The Ton January Challenge! Our cue word for January 2018 is CHEERS

I've created a New Year's shaker card using Country Rose Cluster set. I was thinking of the New Year on the other side of the earth! I imagine the New Year in the south hemisphere like this :)! - Firework in the sky over a field filled with roses!

To start off I heat embossed  Country Rose Cluster two times on Bristol smooth paper using Rose Gold embossing powder and watercolored them. I used coral and pink to color the roses and purple and turquoise to color the leaves. I cut the images using coordinating die and set them aside. To create the background I blended an A2 panel in Peach Blossom, Iris Blooms, Crystal Pewter and Smoky Quartz and added white splatters. After the background panel was completely dry, I heat embossed the fireworks from Pyrotechnics in Rose Gold  and Silver glitter EP. I masked the border area so that the fireworks are only inside of the frame. The frame was cut using Double Stitched Rectangle dies from a white cardstock on which I adhered transparent Adhesive Glitter paper. I heat embossed the sentiment from Born Classy in Rose Gold on the clear acetate sheet and adhered it under the frame.

I then started assembling the shaker card. I used sequins from New Year, Violet Sprinkle and Disco Spring Couture Mix as shaker elements. I then placed the Country Rose Cluster on the window as shown in the picture and finished off the card.

Hope you will play along! Your project should show a Ton product as the main focal point. Stop by The Ton Challenge blog for challenge details and more inspiration! There is as always a $50 gift certificate to The Ton shop to win!

The Ton December Challenge - Mood Board

Hello everyone!
Hope your December started off well :)!

Time flies by and we are in the last month of 2017 already... saying it every year :).

A new challenge has started at The Ton Challenge blog! Effie has created a festive mood board to play with for you.

I wanted represent the aurora borealis in one of the pictures using alcohol inks. After four Yupo panels landed into my stash box, I've got this panel.

To create the background I colored a Yupo panel in Amethyst, Eggplant, Patina and Limeade alcohol ink and added a bit of Pearl Turquoise metallic acryl. After the Yupo panel was dry I stamped the tree silhouettes from Mountains on the panel using alcohol based black ink.  I cut the front panel with the shaker window using my cutting machine. I cut it once from a panel which I made with white cardstock and Adhesive Glitter paper (glossy fine transparent) and again from some purple fun foam. Before assembling the shaker card together, I heat embossed the sentiment from Folk Art Christmas Tree set in Rose gold embossing powder on vellum and cut it in a curved strip. I glued the sentiment strip on Yupo panel and assembled the shaker card. I used flower sequins from Violet Sprinkle Couture Mix to fill the shaker.

The ballerina from Holiday Ballet  was heat embossed in Rose gold, colored using Zig brush markers and cut with the coordinating die. I added crystal Stickles here and there for some sparkle on her. I adhered a strip of rose gold glitter tape onto the card front and mounted the ballerina.

The Ton November Challenge - Holiday

Hello everyone!!!

It's November 1st and it's time for a new challenge at The Ton Challenge blog!!!
For this month we are having a cue word challenge and the cue word is

HOLIDAY

The Ton's Fall 2017 Release includes lots of beautiful and unique holiday stamp sets. For this challenge I chose Holiday Love Poinsettia from the Fall Release. And I challenged myself to use untraditional color combination: aqua, magenta, brown and gold.

I started by heat embossing the Holiday Love Poinsettia image on some Bristol smooth paper in gold pearl EP. I watercolored the image mainly in aqua and cut it with the coordinating die. The stripes was stamped using Haute Stripes cling stamp in Pink Derby on a white cardstock. I heat embossed the stripes in Iridescent EP for some sparkle. The sentiment is from City Girls: Winter Edition. I stamped it repeatedly on a strip of white cardstock in Pink Derby as well and glued it on the striped panel. For the background I splattered clear water on the dark brown shimmer panel and heat embossed it in gold. I foam mounted the striped panel on the brown panel and added Holiday Love Poinsettia on it. I embellished the card with some sequins from Medallion Gold and Glass Slippers and added tiny dots on the center of poinsettias using gold Pico Embellisher.

I can't say I'm happy with the result but the color combination is quite interesting though :)... will try that again someday.

The Ton October Challenge - Caffeine Mood Board

Hello and happy first day of October!!!

New month, new challenge at The Ton Challenge!!!
This month we have a Caffeine Mood Board for you.

Effie found some fabulous pictures and created this mood board for us! As I saw the board, the blue latte one caught my eyes right away! The opaque blue coffee with white cream in a glass mug and blue purple flowers on it placed on a wooden table.... so pretty.  And those are what I represented on my card.

I started off by creating my background. I  used gold and brown Gansai Tambi watercolor to color a mixed media paper panel. After it was dry I gold heat embossed Freestyle Stripes on it. The flowers from Always Cherry Blossoms were gold heat embossed on some Bristol Smooth paper, colored using Zig Brush markers and cut with coordinating dies. To represent the glass mug with blue latte, I decided to go with some clear acetate. I gold heat embossed the cup from Tea Party set and cut it using the coordinating die. I then colored the back of the cup using Pearl Turquoise acrylic paint and white alcohol ink, A cup of blue latte done :)! I narrowed down the brown panel, added thin strips of Adhesive Foil paper gold on both sides and mounted it flat on my gray cardbase. I then foam mounted the cherry blossoms and the cup. The sentiment is from Magnificent Magnolias. I stamped it in Dark Roast on a strip of white cardstock with a mat of gold foil and foam mounted it onto the card. The finishing touch were some Medallion Gold sequins.

That's it from me!  Hope I was able to inspire you to play along!

Please stop by The Ton Challenge blog. There are gorgeous inspirations from our guest designer and my team mates waiting for you :)!

The Ton September Challenge - Mood Board

Hello and happy Friday!!!

It's already September! Where have the 8 months gone?
Anyway I'm glad Summer is almost over. I'm not a Summer kinda person. Actually I don't like too cold weather either, haha :)!

Today I have my first Autumn card of this year to share with you! The Ton September Challenge has started today. For this month Effie has created a autumnal mood board.

You could catch so many inspirations from this board, right?

I took the upper left picture as my inspiration and made this card. I like the blue and brown combination and wanted to try it.

To start off I stamped the first layer of the leaves from Autumn Foliage along the diagonal on a toned tan paper in Hampton white pigment ink. I then stamped the leaves in layers. I used Found Topaz, Aspen Cocoa and Dark Roast for oak tree leaves, Coral Cavern, Valentine Red and Pink Derby for Maple leaves, Lemon Drop, Beach Blondie and Amber Citrine for Ginkgo leaves and Warm Hazelnut and Spiced Chai for the small leave on the right upper corner. I gold heat embossed the third layers again. For the small leaves, which have no layering stamp, I drew some lines using an embossing pen and gold heat embossed them. I drew a wavy line on a white cardstock and cut it out to use it as a guide for the golden lines on the front panel. I drew three lines going through the leaves using a gold gel pen and cut the panel along the outermost golden line and the outline of the leaves. I glued the white cardstock which I used as my guide underneath the front panel so that the panel has a white edge. Set the front panel aside I started to make the background and the coffee cup. The background was colored using brown and gold Gansai Tambi watercolor and Broken China Distress oxide ink on some multimedia paper. The coffee cup from Hug in a Mug stamp set was heat embossed in Rose Gold, colored using Gansai Tambi watercolor and die cut using coordinating die. I stamped and white heat embossed one of the cream stamp from the same set.

To assemble my card I glued the background panel flat on the card base, foam mounted the front panel and foam mounted the coffee cup on it. The sentiment is from Beautiful Butterflies 2 which was stamped first in Hampton white pigment ink and then slightly offset in Aspen Cocoa.
To finish off I scattered some halo gold sequins from Princess Glam and Kiwi Smoothie, little clear sequins from Coral Necklace and Medallion Gold sequins.

That's it from my side! I hope I was able to inspire you to get crafty and create some autumnal projects to join in the fun! One winner will get $50 gift certificate to The Ton shop!

The Ton August Challenge - SUMMER

Hello all! It's AUGUST!!! Time flies by literally...! Hope you are having a great Summer so far!

The Ton Challenge for the month of August is all about SUMMER!!! Pull out your The Ton goodies and play along before the Summer says good-bye to us :) !

I played with Wave and our newest stamp set, Mermaid Vibes to create a tri-fold card. I actually crated two panels and connected them with a middle panel.

To start off I created the backgrounds on some mixed media papers for the two colored panels. For my wave panel I added the blue watercolor on the bottom area, as I wanted to widen down the wave. I used Cerulean Blue, Turquoise and Indigo Color Burst to color. And on the underwater panel I created an ocean scene using the same colors. To show the clouds I dabbed off the color with paper towel while it was still wet. I then started stamping the Wave in Cali Blue, Azurite and True Navy on the panel on the bottom part of which I added the blue watercolor. I placed the Wave stamp high to the top of the panel. I blended True Navy on the watercolored area for a continuous look and added some clear glitter on the wave. I partially die cut the wave using coordinating die. I die cut a textured light blue cardstock in the same shape to mat the wave panel and glued them together. The sentiment is from Mermaid Vibes. I stamped it in True Navy on a strip of heavyweight white cardstock, added Lemon Drop on the left end by blending and glued it on the wave panel.

For the underwater scene I heat embossed the swimming mermaids from Mermaid Vibes in Rose Gold, colored them using Sparkle markers and fussy cut them. You can use the coordinating die which is available now. I then heat embossed the fishes and sea plants in Liquid Platinum and Rose Gold, and the sentiment from Palm Tree set in Liquid Platinum. The panel was matted with the same light blue cardstock like the wave panel. I cut one more light blue panel and glued the wave panel and the underwater panel on both sides to assemble the tri-fold card. I foam mounted the mermaids under the sea. To finish off I sponged the sun ray in Lemon Drop using a stencil and added some sequins from Glass Slippers Round confetti as bubbles.

This was my first tri-fold card :) !
I hope I was able to inspire you! If you have some of The Ton's stamps or dies, play along!!! One winner will get $50 gift certificate to The Ton online shop!

The Ton July Challenge - Mood Board

Hello everyone!!!
It is hard to believe that the half of 2017 has already passed.
We are in July and it means a new challenge at The Ton Challenge blog has started!!!

For this month Effie arranged a mood board to inspire you.

The pictures are so pretty, beautiful and inspiring!!! Several ideas came in my mind and I chose the one inspired by the picture on the right bottom corner; box of macarons surrounded by beautiful flowers.

And this is what I came up with.

First I cut the front panel from a watercolor paper using my cutting machine, an A2 sized panel with a rectangle window in the middle. The rectangle window was sized to make a macaron box, in which 4 small macarons from our Macarons set fit. I then white heat embossed the Peony Terrace on the front panel and watercolored it in pink, yellow and green using Gansai Tambi Pearl colors. I added a bit of Color burst powders to intensify the colors. While I was painting, I tried to represent the flower cluster on the picture. The macarons were stamped and die cut using coordinating die. The colors I used are: for light yellow macaron; Vanilla Frosted Cupcake, Lemon Drop, Amber Citrine/ for yellow macaron; Lemon Drop, Amber Citrine, Coraline Hybrid/ for pink macaron; Rose Quartz, Hollywood Star, Cosmopolitan Pink Hybrid/ for purple macaron: Soft Amethyst, Plum Wine, Iris Blooms

I glued the macarons on the gray card base and added some sequins of Glass Slippers round confetti on it. I added a thin shimmer frame on the rectangle window of the front panel,  adhered a clear acetate sheet to the window and rounded the bottom corners of the panel before I foam mounted it on the card base. The sentiment is from Sweet Macarons set, which I stamped in Noir. To finish off I added two more sequins from Glass Slippers round confetti on the front panel. The backdrop of my picture is Bokeh Glow backdrop board.

I hope I was able to inspire you! If you have some of The Ton's stamps or dies, play along!!! One winner will get $50 gift certificate to The Ton online shop!

The Ton June Challenge - Color Palette

Hello and welcome to my blog on the first day of June!
A new challenge at The Ton Challenge has started today! This time we chose a color palette for you to play with!

I would say magenta red, coral, slate, turquoise and dark green. Or do you have any suggestions how to call those colors? Anyhow they look gorgeous! I especially loved the combination of turquoise and magenta red.

This is my card using turquoise and magenta red as main colors.

To start off I stamped the Dearest Peony on a watercolor paper using Aqua markers. I used pink for the flower and bluegreen for the leaves and stem. I then colored the image with Zig brush markers. I added pink, bluegreen, and gray around the image too. To add some more interest I dry embossed the outline with the Coordinating die. For the background I stamped Freestyle Stripes in Caribbean Turquoise on the white card base and added golden stripes by adhering thin strips of Adhesive Glitter paper Gold. I cut the colored panel in an angle as shown in the picture using Double Stitched Rectangle die and mounted it on the card base using foam adhesive.

The sentiment is also from Dearest Peony. I gold heat embossed the sentiment on a gray cardstock and added it onto the card. I glued a thin strip of a heavyweight card stock underneath the sentiment strip for some dimension. Some sequins from Glass Slippers, Royal Garden Party and Princess Glam Couture Mix were my finishing touch.

I hope you like the color palette, too!

The Ton May Challenge - Tic Tac Toe

Hello everyone! Hope your start into May was great!

May challenge on The Ton Challenge blog is a fun one! How about a TIC TAC TOE board to play with!!!

I chose the bottom horizontal row and made this card! A circle card with a front panel with an off the edge tulip.

To start off I made the shaped panel and a circle base first. I die cut the front panel from Bristol smooth paper using Double Stitched Circle die and the coordinating die of Lucky Tulip with partial die cutting technique. The card base was cut from a folded white cardstock with Double Stitched Circle die. I stamped the Lucky Tulip on the front panel, the flower in Ballet Slippers and the stem and leaves in Cali Blue, and colored the image using Zig Brush pens and Gansai Tambi pearl colors. You can see the shimmer better on the close-up picture. I then added some splatters in green and white and silver heat embossed the sentiment from Sunflower Bouquet. Before I mounted the front panel on my circle card base I adhered a piece of light blue Adhesive Foil Paper on the base.

To finish off I added a thin strip of Adhesive Glitter Paper silver on the stitch line of the front panel and scattered a few sequins from Violet Sprinkle and Royal Garden Party Couture Mix.

Could you find your favorite combination on the Tic Tac Toe board?
Hope you'll play with us this month!

The Ton April Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello everyone!

It's already the first of April and time for a new challenge at The Ton Challenge blog!
The theme for this month is ANYTHING GOES!

On today's card I used the beloved Sending Peonies and the coordinating die of Brushed Hugs.

To start off I blended the background using Deep Emerald, Soft Garden, Cali Blue and Arctic Sky dye inks. I then placed the peony cluster from Sending Peonies stamp set on Misti tool and stamped it in embossing ink on the front panel and on a shimmery cardstock. I stamped it again on my white card base in Crystal Pewter. I gold heat embossed the image on the front panel and on the shimmery cardstock piece. I repeated the process after placing the stamp on the other diagonal corner of the card. I die cut the brushed hugs using coordinating die from the shimmery cardstock piece with gold heat embossed peony cluster and again from a red foam.

I colored the peonies using Copic markers in the same color as the background to add some dimension. I colored the peonies on the Hugs die cut as well, this time in silver using a gel pen. I trimmed the front panel slightly smaller than A2, glued it flat on the card base and added the red foam ahd shimmery hugs die cut. To finish off I added some sequins from Cinderella's Ride, Flamenco Sunset, Winter Thaw Couture mix and Glass Slippers sequins mix.

Hope I could inspire you to join in our April challenge. Don't forget to hop over to The Ton Challenge blog to see some amazing projects from my team mates and to get all the details about the challenge. One winner will get one $50 gift certificate to The Ton shop.

The Ton March Challenge - Lucky

Hello everyone! I can't believe it's already the first day of March!

On the first day of every month starts a new challenge at The Ton Challenge blog
The theme of March is LUCKY. How lucky I have the Scripty Alpha stamp set on hand :)!

This is what I came up with!

I used one of my favorite floral stamps, Loose Peonies as the focal point. First I die cut the peony, one bud and leaves as a cluster using coordinating dies. I then aligned the stamp into the die cut window using Misti and stamped the images on Bristol smooth paper. I used for the peonies Vanilla Frosted Cupcake and for the leaves Soft Garden. I then colored the peony cluster with Zig brush markers. I stamped one more peony cluster on the front panel as well. I used Crystal Pewter for it to leave it as an outline image. I stamped the Minor Stripes background on my card base in Lemon Drop to show it on the left edge of my card. I glued the colored panel on my card base and mounted the front panel with the die cut window on it using some foam adhesive. The sentiment was made with Scripty Alpha Lower stamp and stamped in Noir. I added the white heat embossed I HAVE YOU on black. To make the sentence I combined some sentiments from Brushed You and Brushed Love stamp sets.
I finished off my card by adding some sequins from Glass Slippers and Flamenco Sunset Couture Mix.

I hope I could inspire you to join in the fun at The Ton Challenge! One winner will get a $50 gift certificate to The Ton Shop

Hello everyone! It's already the first day of February!
The Ton started with a new challenge this year. The Ton Challenge is a monthly challenge, where you can show your creations in which The Ton's products are the main focus. And of course there is a chance to win a $ 50 gift card to The Ton store!

February's theme is... yes! of course LOVE :)!

I've created a card using Brushed Love and Beautiful Butterflies1 stamp sets from our Anniversary Release.

I started off by stamping the big love from Brushed Love on the upper part of my watercolor panel. I then clear heat embossed the Monarch butterflies from Beautiful Butterflies1, the biggest one towards the sentiment and small ones to the bottom of the panel. I added watercolor wash in rainbow colors using Peerless watercolor. After the panel was dry I fussy cut the panel along the bottom outline of the big love sentiment, added gold heat embossing on the edge using embossing pen.
I aligned the panel on my card base, placed the Brushed Love stamp and stamped it in Noir dye ink with the help of MISTI. I added small sending in gold and finished off the card by adding some sequins from Glass Slippers, Flamenco Sunset, Princess Glam, Royal Garden Party and Winter Thaw Couture Mix.
