The Flower Challenge - Favorite Flower - 1st Anniversary

Hello everyone!

It's October 4th (October 5th in Australia) and a new challenge has started at The Flower Challenge! It is our 13th challenge and it means The Flower Challenge is turning one!!! YAY!!!

We are celebrating our first birthday challenge with lots of prizes !!! Stop by The Flower Challenge blog to see which awesome goodies are waiting for you :)! But before you leave, please take a look at my card for our 13th challenge : USE YOUR FAVORITE FLOWER

Magnolia is one of my favorite flowers. What an elegant messenger of Spring!
I used Magnificent Magnolias by The Ton Stamps, one of our generous sponsors at this anniversary challenge! Thank you so much, Effie :)!

I have stamped the magnolias in Tattered Rose DI on some white cardstock and colored them using Prismacolor pencils. I cut them out using coordinating dies and set them aside. The night blue background was created with Indigo alcohol ink and rubbing alcohol on a alcohol ink cardstock. I added white splatters using Snow cap. After I tried several arrangements of magnolias I decided to use a larger cardbase than A2. The gray cardbase is 6"x 4.75". As a frame for my alcohol ink panel I add a mat of white panel on the edges of which I adhered Adhesive glitter paper glossy fine silver. I glued the alcohol ink panel flat and slightly tilted on the gray cardbase. I then arranged my magnolias on it. I used foam adhesive to mount the flowers for some dimension.

As I didn't want to cover my card with sentiment, I made a vellum banner using Basic Banners set by The Ton. I silver heat embossed the banner and the sentiment and cut it with coordinating die.
To finish off I added some dark blue and clear sequins.

We are so excited and looking forward to seeing lots of entries filled with gorgeous flowers in the gallery! Now hop over to The Flower Challenge blog for more inspirations! We have amazing guest designers celebrating with us too!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! Hope you enjoyed my card!

The Ton October Challenge - Caffeine Mood Board

Hello and happy first day of October!!!

New month, new challenge at The Ton Challenge!!!
This month we have a Caffeine Mood Board for you.

Effie found some fabulous pictures and created this mood board for us! As I saw the board, the blue latte one caught my eyes right away! The opaque blue coffee with white cream in a glass mug and blue purple flowers on it placed on a wooden table.... so pretty.  And those are what I represented on my card.

I started off by creating my background. I  used gold and brown Gansai Tambi watercolor to color a mixed media paper panel. After it was dry I gold heat embossed Freestyle Stripes on it. The flowers from Always Cherry Blossoms were gold heat embossed on some Bristol Smooth paper, colored using Zig Brush markers and cut with coordinating dies. To represent the glass mug with blue latte, I decided to go with some clear acetate. I gold heat embossed the cup from Tea Party set and cut it using the coordinating die. I then colored the back of the cup using Pearl Turquoise acrylic paint and white alcohol ink, A cup of blue latte done :)! I narrowed down the brown panel, added thin strips of Adhesive Foil paper gold on both sides and mounted it flat on my gray cardbase. I then foam mounted the cherry blossoms and the cup. The sentiment is from Magnificent Magnolias. I stamped it in Dark Roast on a strip of white cardstock with a mat of gold foil and foam mounted it onto the card. The finishing touch were some Medallion Gold sequins.

That's it from me!  Hope I was able to inspire you to play along!

Please stop by The Ton Challenge blog. There are gorgeous inspirations from our guest designer and my team mates waiting for you :)!

Have a great day!

Seize the Birthday - Script or Text Background

Hello everyone!

Today is Seize the Birthday Thursday:)! The new Topping's option for next fortnight is

SCRIPT or TEXT BACKGROUND

If you want to, you may enter any newly created birthday card, as we have always Anything Goes challenge too :)!

I actually had one card in my mind, but it became three :)!
I started by making a cutting file for the white panel, a broad frame with integrated calla lilies. I cut it from a textured white cardstock with my Cricut, but the outline of the lilies was too thin (see the last card :)). So I made another one with thicker outline, and of course it was too thick (here the second card :)) haha!
So I had to correct the lilies again and it was just right !!!

And this is the one :) !

The background was created using alcohol inks (Aqua, Limeade, Sunshine Yellow and Gold) on Yupo paper. As I have no script stamp, I used birthday sentiments from Penned Sentiments by The Ton. I stamped them with Archival inks in light blue and light green on the Yupo panel. I stamped the sentiment in Noir on the white frame and foam mounted it onto the card. To finish off I added some sequins.

The second card was made using the frame panel with the thicker outline of calla lilies.

Here I used Mountain Rose, Peach Bellini, Aqua, Limeade and Gold to create the background.

The last one shows the lilies with thin outline. It was too thin to mount it using foam tape. So I glued it flat onto the card.

The background on this card was made using Distress Oxide inks (Broken China, Wilted Violet, Worn Lipstick, Peeled Paint and Cracked Pistachio). The sentiments on the background were stamped in DIs.

Hope you enjoyed looking my cards today. It was not intended to have three cards, but I love them all!

Please stop by Seize the Birthday blog to see the inspiration cards that my amazing team mates and our surprise party guest Becca Cruger have made!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog!
Have a wonderful day!

One more floral card :) - Chrysanthemum

Hello everyone!

I'm popping in to share a floral card with you today. I'm trying to color floral images during current The Dailymarker 30 day Coloring challenge as often as I can. And the digital floral stamps by EunJi, which she is releasing during September, are just right for this challenge.

The digi-stamp on my card is called Botanical Chrysanthemum.  If you want to see the gorgeous creation by Eunji click here.

And this is my card!

When I color flowers, I always google for it to see the color combination, the highlights, shades, the veins on the petals etc. For the Chrysanthemum of my card I chose this picture as my reference.

I used R81, R83, R85 and R 89 to color the Chrysanthemum flower. For the leaves and stem I used various YR colors. But I didn't like how they turned out and corrected them using Polychromos colored pencils. The gold heat embossed sentiment is from Large Florals: Carnation set by The Ton. I cut the panel using Double Stitched Rectangle die and foam mounted it on a dark red cardbase.

To finish off I added clear WOS on the flower and some dew drops using Glossy Accents.

I really love the colors of R81 - 89 Copics, kinda burgundy red!

I'm going to enter this card into Addicted to CAS #120: Florals and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Clean and Simple.

Thank you so much for stopping by!!!

Guest at Stamp Connection #29

Hello and happy Sunday everyone!!!

Today I have two special cards to share with you. Cornelia from Fun-Stamping invited me to play along at Stamp Connection #29. And of course I said yes :).

For some of you who don't know about Stamp Connection, here is the saying from one of the hosts, Cornelia:

" Connected through our love for card making, blogging and being from Germany we (Tanja from Little Art Cottage and I) decided to create a monthly project within predefined requirements. We are going to show you the result every 3rd Sunday of the month "

I lived in Germany for 18 years before I came to USA. So there is some connection with me too for sure :).

The requirements at Stamp Connection for this month is
DECORATE THE BACK SIDE OF YOUR CARD.

I've never made this kind of card, but had right away an idea as I heard about the requirement, which happens not that often :).

My two cards are in the same design. The images on the first card (right in the picture) was stamped in black and on the second one (left in the picture) I heat embossed them in gold. I couldn't decide for one of the design ideas, so I've made both :). I used The Ton's stamps.

To start off the first card I stamped the outline images of Holly Branch repeatedly on top of my Bristol smooth panel (4.25"x11") in Versafine Onyx black. I then watercolored the holly branches. I mixed my watercolor with silver watercolor from Gansai Tambi to add some shimmer on my image.

I stamped a poinsettia and some berries from Fresh Cut Poinsettias Outline stamp set on some separate Bristol smooth paper, watercolored and die cut them using coordinating dies. The sentiment is from Cozy Poinsettias set. I stamped Merry Christmas in black and clear heat embossed it. The thin sentiment was gold heat embossed. I scored and folded the cardbase and foam mounted the poinsettia and berries along with some gold thread on it. To finish off I added gold Pico embellisher on the berries and some Crystal Stickles on the center of the poinsettia.

The second card was made in the same way like the first one. The image and the main sentiment were gold heat embossed, and the Happy New Year was stamped in Noir .This time I added white Pico embellisher on the berries.

So I have now two more Christmas cards ready :)! Thank you so much for inviting me and for the inspiration, Cornelia!
Now let's visit Cornelia and Tanja on their blogs to see which awesome projects they have to share with us!

Thank you so much for your visit!

TaeEun

The Flower Challenge #12 - Tic Tac Toe Reminder

Hello and happy Friday, everyone!!!

It's time for a reminder card for The Flower Challenge!!! We are having a Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge this month! We have easy elements on our board, so you could choose your combination right away!

For my reminder card I picked one of diagonal lines, Embossing, Watercolor and Color (blue).

This rose cluster is a rubber cling stamp from Stampendous called Timeless Rose, one of my favorite rose stamps.

I white heat embossed the rose cluster on a Canson watercolor paper. First I blended Broken China and Peacock Feather DI on the whole panel very light, splattered with clear water and dabbed it off with paper towel. I then colored the image using Brusho powder. The sentiment is from Dearest Peony from The Ton. I white heat embossed the thin sentiment on a strip of dark gray cardstock and foam mounted it onto the card. The sequins from Smoked Emerald and Glass Slippers by The Ton were the finishing touch!

That's it! I hope I was able to inspire you with my card today to join us at The Flower Challenge!

Next month we will celebrate our 1st Anniversary with lots of prizes and inspirations from our team and guest designers. So mark your calendars for Oct. 4th (5th in some locations)!!!

Thank you so much for coming!!!
Have a wonderful weekend!
