Spellbinders - SHAPEABILITIES Nordic Blooms & Dala Horse

Hello everyone! Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

I have a couple of cards to share with you today. Spellbinders invited me to play with some of their products. Nordic Blooms and Dala Horse are designed by Lene Lok in a style of Scandinavian folk art.

My first card is featuring Shapeabilities Nordic Blooms dies. You can combine several flower and stem designs as you want.

I left the white die cuts uncolored and added them onto an ombre navy blue background.

To create the background I colored a 6.5"x 4" watercolor paper panel in payne's gray and french ultramarine. I colored the background in several layers after drying previous layer using my heat gun. After the panel was finished and dry I drew the golden lines using metallic watercolor.

I cut the flowers and the stems from white cardstock three times, stack them together and glued them onto the card as shown in the picture. The sentiment from Clearly Besotted was white heat embossed.  I added three blue rhinestones to finish off the card.

Next card is a CAS card with Shapeabilities Dala Horse as the main element.

I've found several color combinations of dalecarlian horses on google, but decided to go with the traditional red.

I cut the Dala Horse from white cardstock and colored it using Sharpie markers in red and yellow. I cut two more horses to stack them up for more dimension.

I chose some yellow patterned paper to stamp the sentiment from Paper Smooches on it. I stamped the sentiment in black pigment ink and clear heat embossed it. On the white panel I blended yellow DOX inks very lightly and cut the bottom edge using one of the A2 Scalloped Borders Three dies.

I adhered the yellow panel with sentiment on a white cardbase, foam mounted the white panel on it and added the Dala Horse. And finished is the CAS card.

Usually I make cards with stamped images but I had so much fun to play with dies for a change and am quite happy with the results too :) !

Wishing you all a great week ahead!

Seize the Birthday - Patterned Paper

Hello everyone!

It's time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday! The Toppings option for next fortnight is

PATTERNED PAPER

What a good chance to use up some of the papers in your stash which are waiting for being used!
I used a patterned paper pack. The papers are color coordinated. So it was easy to make two cards using them.

I started die cutting birthday sentiment using Bold General Greeting Word Plate die from a patterned paper panel, from some purple fun foam and from a cardstock on which I adhered Gold Foil adhesive paper

To make the first card I mounted a striped panel flat on a cardbase, adhered die cut sentiment on it aligning with the help of gold negative die cut panel. I foam mounted the gold negative panel, which was cut with a Double Stitched Rectangle die, on it and snipped off the overhanging corners.

The sentiment is from Toned Squares set from The Ton. I heat embossed it in white on a strip of patterned paper and added onto the card. The small flowers and leaves were punched and glued on the golden panel. I finished off the card by adding some purple rhinestones on the flowers.

The negative die cut panel of the birthday sentiment on the first card was used for the second card. The second card came together very quickly.

I mounted the negative die cut panel on a cardbase and added golden sentiment, which was raised on the purple fun foam die cut sentiment. I adhered the small sentiment strip on the die cut sentiment and rounded two corners of the card.

It was fun to make some quick cards using pretty patterned papers and die cut sentiment!!!
Hope you will join us and play along!

The Flower Challenge #20 - Acetate/Vellum Reminder

Hello and Happy Tuesday!!!

Today I have a floral shaker card to share with you I made for The Flower Challenge #20 : Acetate/Vellum. We arrived at the halfway point of this month and this is the reminder post of our 20th challenge!

In the card for the first post I used vellum and this time I decided to use acetate.
Shaker card is the first thing pops in my mind when I have to use acetate on a card. I used Dahlia Bouquet from The Ton to create the background of my shaker window.

I stamped Dahlia Bouquet image on a piece of Canson mixed media paper in Versafine black pigment ink and watercolored it. I then glued the panel on my cardbase placing the bouquet on the right side of the card. To cut the window I aligned a textured cream cardstock and the coordinating die for Dahlia Bouquet with the colored panel and cut the cream panel. I prepared the front panel by adhering the acetate on the back, stamping the sentiment from Always Cherry Blossoms set in Noir and adding foam tape.
I glued some iridescent rhinestones on the flower center and here and there on the colored panel and added some iridescent and silver sequins as shaker element when I assembled the shaker card.
I finished off the card with a orange ribbon.

Hope I could inspire you to make maybe some shaker card for our challenge :)!

Seize the Birthday - It's Just a Number

Hello and welcome to my blog!

Today is Seize the Birthday Thursday again :)! The Toppings option for next fortnight is

It's Just a Number

As always you can link up any newly created birthday card, if you want to.

Today I used EunJi's digital stamp Sweet Floral Cake for my card. This digital stamp set contains one floral border and several cake images decorated with flowers. I used the border and one cake from them.

I placed the border and wrote the sentiment with the Toppings option on Keynote (an Mac application similar to Powerpoint) and printed it with my laser printer.

I added gold foil on Happy Birthday and ran it through the laminator two times. I then colored the border and the cake, printed on a separate white cardstock, using Copic markers. I colored the glace in light blue and added some shine using a clear glaze pen. The flowers were coated with clear WOS.

I mounted the colored panel on a light blue cardbase and foam mounted the fussy cut cake on it.

That was my DT card for today! Hope you liked it!

Please head on over to Seize the Birthday blog to see the cards my talented team mates and our new Surprise Party Guest Sonja from Th Art of Stamping have created!
